From the land of Finns...

Moi!

Thank you everyone for your constant prayers, I've safely arrived and settled down in Finland...BUT I'm still trying to get used to the cold. According to the Finns, it is usually -5 to -10 degrees here but it is exceptionally cold this year, everyday temperature varies from -17 to -25 degrees...and the coldest month has yet to arrive =X. Very little sunlight here.. sun rise at 9am and set by 4pm..thus, making me feel sleepy before 10pm. Finns avoid hand shakes and their way of greeting ppl is just a nod (sounds snobbish? ..no la..I've met a few Finns and they're actually quite nice ppl:)) Students here are very active in the various activities, and they have a very strong sense of identity for their clubs and school= the teekkari culture. The Finns love saunas..just below my block, there are 2 sauna rooms. Most of their sweets contain licorice and salt (yucks to me... so i've been eating more chocolates than usual:p) And...of course, many more Finnish life to be experienced here!

My french roommate arrived yesterday...and her standard of cleanliness is very utterly HIGH. According to my friend, she came back aft midnight.. and was cleaning the kitchen, her room, the cabinets, the bathroom, and making lots of noise (..i slept like a dead log and didnt hear anything). Then today, my friend helped to wash the sink area, but when she came back..she started rewashing that area again! And...I was being "kindly reminded" by her to mop DRY the bathroom after using...its the bathroom! it'll be wet after bathing!...argh!! And MANY incidents that I don't wish to say.
Feeling quite upset..trying to be nice, smiled, talked abit.. but now.. i'll just try to avoid her.. she looked fierce when angered :'(

I miss Radianite fellowship and "zim"... I miss home...
