Our Divine Dog Tags! ~our true identity is in Jesus
TJ is a Jack Russell Terrier. He is small, about 8kg, and he has a nice white coat with brown patches. TJ's identity didn't come mainly from his looks. It came from his unique personality and from being ours. When we first got him, we made a dog tag for him, such that if he get lost, someone will bring him back to us. He belonged to us, and we belonged to him. No questions asked!
Humans too have dog tags, they're called fingerprints. These are the physical features that prove our identity to people who don't know us, to show that we're citizens from a certain country. And as Christians, we have another identity, it is our identity in Christ. I have given my life and heart to Christ, and God has sealed me with His divine dog tag, the presence of His Holy Spirit within me. This tag was purchased with Christ's blood. No matter what I accomplish in this life, no matter if I succeed or fail, no matter who I am or what I say, what counts most is that I belong to Him.TJ is a Jack Russell Terrier. No matter how TJ changed as he grow old, no matter if his tag get lost or fade, whether people still recognised him or not, he is still ours, and we know him and love him as he is.
No matter how much I've changed over the years, I am still God's precious, and He knows me by name.
"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me-- just as the Father knows me and I knows the Father-- and I lay down my life for the sheep." (John 10: 14-15)
